Welcome from the President.

I am very pleased to serve again as President of Tullamore Business & Professional Women's Club for 2018.

We are planning a very interesting programme for 2018, starting with the AGM. We welcome two new members to the committee.

One of our members is going to Kenya on voluntary services and she will tell us all about it in February, appropriately, on International Candle Lighting night.

Kari Rosvall will speak about her life as one of Hitler's children born through his Arian experiment. She has written about this in her book "Nowhere's Child".

The May dinner will have another interesting speaker who will be confirmed at a later date.

BPW Ireland is currently in the process of organising the European Conference for 2019.(EC19). 200 plus delegates are expected to attend. This will take place in Galway, with the Conference facilities being provided in NUIG. I hope as many members as possible will attend and meet the various members of the European Family of BPW. The current International President Dr. Amany Asfour, is expected to attend. The theme for the Conference is -

  "Peace - Nothing Without Peace".

One of our most important events of the year is the BPW public speaking competition for schools "Your Voice Matters". The theme for this year's competition is also the theme of the Conference. Peace -Nothing Without Peace. It is also proposed that the finalists will present at the Conference. The local heats  will be held in November, with the National Finals shortly afterwards. Tullamore BPW will also host the National Finals.

The aims of BPW are "to share, educate and have a voice".

BPW is a founding member of the National Women's Council and has representation on the National Women's Council, BPW Europe,The European Commission and consultative status at the U.N.  Our committee members attend meetings of the National Council of BPW Ireland.

If you wish to join in our activities, meet new people, make new friends while sharing different experiences we would love to hear from you. If you would like to join our Club, you are welcome to attend any of our events and or talk with any of our members.

Jean F. Durkin.
